Open Letter to Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori
Dear Excellency Sheriff Oborevwori,
As Delta State approaches the conclusion of the tenure of its current sports administration, it is imperative to reflect on the rich legacy and achievements that have characterized our state’s sporting history.
Since its inception, Delta State has been a powerhouse in the realm of sports, producing outstanding administrators and athletes who have brought honor and glory to our nation.
From luminaries such as the late Patrick Okomor and Awoture Eleyae to contemporary figures like Solomon Ogba, Amaju Pinnick, and Tonobok Okowa, Delta has consistently fostered talent and nurtured champions across various sporting disciplines. The names of these individuals resonate not only within our borders but also on the global stage, symbolizing the indomitable spirit and determination of Delta’s sports community.
Central to the success of our sporting endeavors has been the visionary leadership and strategic planning of past sports administrators.
Their dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence have propelled Delta to the forefront of national and international competitions. Under their stewardship, we have witnessed unparalleled dominance in events such as the National Sports Festival and the National Youth Games, solidifying Delta’s reputation as a sporting powerhouse.
As we contemplate the appointment of new leadership for the Delta State Sports Commission, it is incumbent upon us to ensure continuity and progression. The next chairman and board members must possess not only a passion for sports but also the requisite skills, experience, and vision to build upon the foundations laid by their predecessors. It is essential that they possess a deep understanding of sports administration and a willingness to innovate and adapt to the evolving landscape of the sporting industry.
Governor Oborevwori, I implore you to prioritize the appointment of dynamic and capable individuals who will lead with integrity, competence, and foresight. We need leaders who will leave no stone unturned in their quest to harness the full potential of our state’s sporting talent and infrastructure. Let us not settle for mediocrity but strive for greatness, ensuring that Delta continues to produce world-class athletes and remains a beacon of excellence in the world of sports.
In conclusion, let us seize this opportunity to shape the future of sports in Delta State positively. By appointing leaders who embody the values of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, we can ensure that our sporting legacy endures for generations to come. Together, let us build a brighter, more prosperous future for Delta’s sports community.
Yours sincerely,
Azuka Chiemeka.
