Rotarians during world Polio mega walk

October 24 is world Polio Day .
A global day to raise Awareness and resources for the worldwide effort to eradicate Polio .

Rotarians comprising 15 Rotary clubs in Warri South ,Uvwie ,Okpe ,Ughelli North and south local Government Areas of Delta state under Rotary international District 9141 came out en-masse to create awareness of the need to keep Polio in Nigeria at zero -free .

The theme for 2023 world Polio day is “A healthier future for mothers and children.”

Polio is a highly contagious viral infection that can lead to paralysis and even death in severe cases .

To sustain the campaign Rotary International has been at the forefront of eradicating polio and is committed to keeping it status at zero not only in Nigeria but also worldwide.
So far, over the last 3 decades, Rotarians through Rotary International have contributed over $2.9 billion with the aim to eradicate this preventable disease.

15 clubs in Warri South ,Uvwie ,Okpe ,Ughelli North and south local Government Areas under District 9141 led by the presidents of the clubs walked from Refinery junction through various streets in Uvwie local government to Angle park junction in Warri South local government Areas to encourage parents to take their children under the ages of zero to 5 to the nearest health centre for immunization against Polio .

Some of the Presidents stated that Rotary club is committed to sustain the country’s zero polio status.

They enjoined stakeholders to join hands with Rotary club in ensuring that every deserving child was vaccinated and polio remained at zero in the country .

After the successful Mega Polio Awareness walk,Rotarians later gathered at a pool side to unwind and raise fund with the aim to eradicate Polio .

The event featured America auction sales and Raffle draw .
Some Rotarians went home with
various prices .

The clubs that participated during the mega awareness walk are Rotary clubs of Warri ,Ogunu,Effurun GRA, Edjeba ,Warri Central, Ubeji,Effurun Dynasty,Ekpan, Effurun City Centre,Effurun, Warri Metropolis, Osubi, Plantation City, Evwreni and Effurun Gateway
