Why Igbos Celebrate Igbo Day – Ezeh

The immediate past President of Ohaneaze Ndigbo Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts, Hon Chief Michael Ezeh ( JP) has explained why the Igbos celebrate Igbo Day annually.
Ezeh fondly called President Emeritus has explained that Igbo Day was celebrated to commemurate and celebrate the fallen heroes of Igbo Nation in his speech during a superb reception he held for guests at his Effurun residence shortly after this year’s Igbo Day held at J F Kennedy Field along Refinery Road Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area on Friday 29th September, 2023 .
Ezeh who is a former Executive Assistant ( EA ) to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Community Development also disclosed that Igbo Day was celebrated globally by Igbos since 1970 .
On his part, a chieftain of Ohaneaze Ndigbo Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts, Nze Francis Onuora ( aka Fracon ) explained that the annual event was aimed at uniting the Igbos .
The renowned sports wears and equipment merchant explained further that Chief Ezeh was absent in this year’s Igbo Day in Effurun due to official assignment elsewhere.
Onuora who is a former Senior Special Assistant ( SSA) to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Community Development however lauded and appreciated Chief Ezeh for his wonderful reception for Igbos and friends of Igbos after the event .
While the Secretary of Ohaneaze Ndigbo Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts, Ogbonnaya Igwe PhD, in his speech explained that Igbo Day was also celebrated to show case the rich cultural heritage of the Igbos.
Igwe who is a former Special Assistant (SA) to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Community Development noted that this year’s celebration of Igbo Day was successful just as he also lauded and appreciated Chief Ezeh for the grand reception for Igbos and friends of Igbos at his residence.
