Another Warri Urhobo socio – political group, Urhobos of Warri PDP Political Forum, has condemned Warri Urhobo National Congress ( WUNC ) for backing call for the probe on former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Chairman of the group Dr ( Olorogun ) Israel Abido ( JP) and 13 other members made available to newsmen in Warri on Tuesday 1st August, 2023 .
Urhobos of Warri PDP Political Forum stated that Warri Urhobos National Congress ( WUNC ) does not have the backing of Urhobos of Warri as it noted that the Urhobos of Warri were major beneficiaries of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa ‘ s administration “in terms of construction of roads numbering over fifty in Warri and its environs.”
The statement expressed optimism that the ongoing massive drainage projects started by former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa when completed will solve the problem of the perennial flooding in Warri.
The statement also gave former Governor Okowa a pat on the back for the upgrading of educational institutions in Urhobo areas of Warri.
The statement affirmed that the members of Warri Urhobos National Congress ( WUNC ) were members of PDP that defected to All Progressive Congress( APC ) few days before the last Delta State governorship election.
The statement therefore urged the reading public to discountanace the publication of Warri Urhobo National Congress ( WUNC ).
The Urhobos of Warri PDP Political Forum however noted that the Urhobos of Warri did not benefit much in terms of appointments during the administration of former Governor Okowa.
It noted also that only few Urhobos of Warri were given political appointments with low portfolios by former Governor Okowa unlike in the administrations of former Governor James Ibori and former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
While the statement expressed confidence that Governor Oborevwori will complete the uncompleted projects of former Governor Okowa and restore Warri ‘ a lost glory, The Urhobos of Warri PDP Political Forum appealed to Governor Oborevwori to consider Urhobos of Warri for more appointments with high portfolios.
