Some of the security guards took over duties from the protesting workers mainly cashier’s who were protesting non -payment of Christmas Bonus by their employer .
ACTUAL NEWS Correspondent on Sunday Morning gathered from a Source (Name withheld) that the management of Shoprite had asked the protesting workers to stay home pending when the issue of their alleged non-payment of annual Bonus is resolved.
Another Source said the protesting workers had been laid off by the management for putting the main entrance of Delta Shopping mall under lock and key on Saturday January,7,2023.
It would be recalled that Warri Shoprite workers on Saturday embarked on a peaceful protest against the management over alleged non-payment of their yearly bonuses by shutting down the shopping mall located at Effurun Uvwie local Government Area Delta State.
It was also gathered that the aggrieved workers ought to be paid in full but were paid only N1,000 (One thousand Naira) as a bonus for the past year as against their contractual agreement.
Customers who wanted to do some shopping at the mall in the early hours of Saturday were disappointed as the aggrieved workers prevented them from entry the shopping mall .
