The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Sideso ,JP OON Abe I has emerged chairman, Association of Urhobo traditional rulers otherwise known as the Ukoko ri Ivie.
The emergence of the Uvwie Monarch came through after a keenly contested election at the palace of the Orodje of Okpe kingdom, Orhue I at Orerokpe, in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta state
For several hours, the traditional rulers were behind closed doors to elect their new executive with the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom Abe I emerging as chairman of the Association known to be the Ukoko ri Ivie, a responsibility he is saddled with to manage the affairs of the Association of Urhobo traditional rulers for a period of four years.
The Ovie of Arhavwarien kingdom emerged as vice chairman while the ovie of Agbarha otor emerged as secretary of the Association.
In his remarks, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom Abe I appreciated the traditional rulers of the Urhobo nation for the trust reposed on him and promised to take the Association to a greater height .
Abe I noted that his emergence as the new chairman is an opportunity to serve the association .
The monarch added that he would stay true to the unity of the Urhobo nation as his wealth of experience would be brought to bear.
The Uvwie Monarch pointed out that the association of Urhobo traditional rulers would continue to preach peace and sustain it for the overall development the Urhobo nation.
Chairman of the electoral committee and the Orodje of Okpe kingdom,Orhue I described the process as fair, and credible even as he added the election was conducted with strict adherence to the extant rules of the Ukoko ri Ivie.
The monarch who is also the chairman of the Delta State traditional council noted that the association of Urhobo traditional rulers is a body constituted to ensure peaceful coexistence across all the 24 kingdoms in the Urhobo Land
Other elected executive include the Ovie of Ogor financial secretary, Ovie of Ijerhe kingdom Spokesman, Ovie of Oghara treasure.
