Ugbokodo Community in Okpe Local Government Area has on behalf of the neighborhing communities of Jeddo and Ughoton appealed for relief materials from Okpe Local Government Council,Delta State Government , Federal Government, Corporate Organizations and public spirited individuals over a rainstorm disaster that befell the said communities on Tuesday 15th April, 2025.
Stephen Oshegbuwa, Christopher Ofoye , John Ukeredi , Clifford Dede Ayanbare and Bishop Dr Paulson Odu ( National Conference Chairman, Chairman, General Secretary, Head Olotu and a distinguished personality of Ugbokodo Community respectively) made the clarion call in a media interaction with our correspondent in Ugbokodo Community on Wednesday 16th April, 2025.
They lamented that properties including homes and aquatic lives worth several millions of naira were destroyed by the rainstorm disaster .
Bishop Dr Paulson Odu pleaded that whatever assistance that will be given to victims , should be reasonable and urgent, considering the prevailing economic crunch confronting the Nigerian masses.
A victim of the rainstorm disaster in the community, Mr. Innocent Ogbejiele who spoke to our correspondent almost in tears stated that the rainstorm and thunder blew off the roof of his apartment completely. ” My wife just put to bed last Saturday. Now we are rendered homeless. This is the most trying period in my life.
” Government should come to our aid now. ” he pleaded
A serving councillor in Warri South Local Government Area representing Ogunu/ Ekurede ( Okurode) Ward in Warri South Local Government Council, Chief Hon Udumetotor Eghere who resides at Ugbokodo Community spoke to our correspondent on the rainstorm disaster as he described it as devastating.
He added his voice to the appeal for relief materials for victims.
No case of death was recorded at as the time of filing this report.
