HRM Morris Oghenechuko Eyekpimi Owhotemu II, the Orosuen (traditional ruler)of Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area has sued for peace and unity among the Okere Urhobo people.
This was contained in his thoughts provoking key note address in a town hall meeting he hosted at his palace along Edjemudarho Road , Off Cinema Site Okumagba Avenue on Saturday 22nd March, 2025.
The respected traditional ruler explained that the meeting was aimed at giving his stewardship on ascension to the throne two years ago and to unite his subjects just as he was delighted to inform them that the activities marking his 2nd coronation anniversary ceremonies will commence on the of 5th April and ends on the 7th April, 2025.
The Okere Urhobo monarch therefore stressed the need for his coronation anniversary to be celebrated in peace and unity among his subjects.
” Immediately after my coronation and official presentation of staff office, I initially conceived the idea to meet with you but some of the issues I met and the ones that later confronted me, did not allow me to actually call the meeting since there were tensions as a result of several litigations and issues by some persons who do not mean well for the kingdom ” he added.
The traditional ruler disclosed that some of the said litigations and issues were yet to be resolved at as the time of the town hall meeting.
He however gave thanks to God and anscentors for the advancement of the kingdom.
While expressing optimism that his 2nd coronation anniversary ceremonies will hold, he invites all indigenes of the kingdom to celebrate with him.
” I want to assure you all that during my reign as your Orosuen, I shall ensure that love, unity and peace reign supreme in our kingdom so as to encourage closer relationships to move our Okere Urhobo Kingdom forward more than I met it ” he added.
The Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom expressed his willingness to cooperate with his subjects by listening to their ideas when the need arises for the advancement of the kingdom.
He however called on indigenes who are nursing grudges against his palace or among themselves to sheath their swords by withdrawing their actions in the courts or police stations .
” Also , I encourage those persons from whose lineages such persons came from, should go and talk to them on the need to embrace peace in the overall interest of the kingdom” the traditional ruler added.
All those who spoke at the event, noted that the town hall meeting was the first of its kind in decades.
They therefore lauded the Okere Urhobo monarch for hosting it.
The highly esteemed Otota (Spokesman) of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, High Chief Dr Brigadier General Gold O Eburu ( rtd ), elders, eghweyas (mothers in marriage) emetes ( female indigenes) youths and other cross section of the kingdom richly graced the historic event.
