The monthly environmental sanitation for the month of June 2023 will hold across Delta State on Saturday, June 24, 2023, between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 am.
A statement by the Director of Public Communication, Mrs Theresa Oliko, states that
there will also be a mega sanitation exercise in Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East Local Government areas of the state.
It adds that During the period of the exercise, there will be restrictions on the movement of persons and vehicles.
It advice residents in the state to cut overgrown weeds, desilt drainages and keep their surroundings clean to prevent diseases, as it is the responsibility of every resident to clean up 20 meters radius of their premises.
The statement reveals that the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Minnie Oseji of the Ministry of Environment, staff, Environmental Taskforce and other relevant authorities will monitor the clean-up exercise.
The statement adds that officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, local government councils and other relevant authorities would evacuate the resultant refuse to approved government dump sites in their respective localities.
It warned that those found not taking part in the exercise would be brought before mobile magistrate courts and prosecuted.
