Delta State commissioner for environment Mr Ejiro Jamani says the ministry would stay committed to the actualisation of Governor sheriff Oborevwori sustainable environmental goals, through policy implementation and enforcement of sanctions to environmental defaulters.
The commissioner for environment, Mr Jamani made the assertion when he led monitoring team from the ministry of Environment to monitor the monthly sanitation in Sapele, Warri South and Uvwie local government areas Of Delta State to ensure compliance.
The commissioner for Environment who visited major markets in Sapele local government Area including, the Sapele main market and Okiregwe markets noted that the ministry would not tolerate non observance of the sanitation exercise as it would no longer be business as usual, where environmental people flout environmental laws with no penalty.
Mr Ejiro Jamani while expressing his displeasure at the attitude with some residents especially market women and men for not keeping their surrounding clean noted that the ministry would set up a mobile Court to prosecute defaulters .
He advised residents to own their environment and work with relevant environmental officers in keeping their surroundings clean thereby preventing disease and infections.
The commissioner for environment had earlier commended the Sapele local Government Chairman, Hon Eugene Inoaghan for his contribution to efforcing environmental laws most especially for constructing and rehabilitating the Amukpe Market .
The commissioner who was also at Isaiah street, Ubeji in Warri South local government Area to seal a poultry farm sited in a residential building after series of petitions received by the ministry , frowned at the level of impunity the resident exhibited after being served notices.
The commissioner stated that nobody is above the law and the ministry would not tolerate any one that had chosen to frustrate the efforts of the state government in placing the state ahead as one of the cleanest in the country.
While monitoring some food eateries in Uvwie, Mr Ejiro Jamani warned against those using water drains as their sewage collector emphasizing that perpetrators of such act would not be spared.
