The executive chairman of Uvwie local government,Chief Anthony Ofoni has charged residents in the area to always maintain a clean environment for healthy living.
Chief Ofoni gave the charge while monitoring the February edition of the 2025 monthly environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday .
The Uvwie council Boss who monitored the monthly sanitation at Jakpa junction, Effurun Roundabout,NPA expressway by Chevron company, Refinery road ,Ekpan junction amongst other areas noted that the execise was important to avoid the spread of diseases especially as the rainy season is fast approaching, there is the need to always ensure a clean environment.
Chief Ofoni during the inspection, frowned at the low level of compliance by the residents as well as high movement of vehicles and conduct of commercial activities during the exercise.

He appealed to the people to always observe government directives on the monthly sanitation, as it is not a means of punishment, but to help maintain a clean environment for healthy living.
Chief Ofoni urged Uvwie residents to always ensure that wastes generated in their various houses, shops and markets, were properly disposed, as against dumping them in drainage channels.
He said improper disposal of these wastes also cause flooding.
The Uvwie council Boss and some of his aides inspected the evacuation of wastes and weeds with the use of pay loader truck .
