More Nigerians have been advised to join Rotary to tap from the immense opportunities embedded in its programmes and projects.
The President, Rotary Club of Onigbongbo, Rasak Babatunde Salau, stated this in an interview on the sidelines of its Super Thursday celebration at the Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
He said Rotary makes an individual a responsible citizen as it hones one’s skill to make one better. More importantly, it makes one to channel their resources for the use of the less privileged in the society with its attendant self-satisfaction.
The guest speaker Otunba Bola Onabadejo challenged the Rotarians to serious membership. He said it is not enough that Rotary International has a membership of 1.4million worldwide, adding that the more the merrier for the people.
Onabadejo, a Past District 9110 Governor, who spoke on Paradigm shift in membership attraction, engagement and club development, gave the Onigbongbo RC members tips on successful membership drive.
They are: attraction, engagement and club development, adding these are the tripod on which Rotary stands.
Noting that membership development remains an important priority to Rotary, he said without it the body would not grow. However, the clubs need members who are active and are ready to serve the people.
He spoke on how to retain new members, but against non-inclusion of them. “Appreciate that your members are precious and make meetings interesting and well-organised,’’ he added.
At the event were Assistant Governor, Yinka Adeosun, past Assistant Governors Sola Benson and Yinka Adeogun and the club’s Secretary, Daniella Udenze, among others.
