The Rotary Clubs of Ubeji, Ogunu and Edjeba, Dstrict 9141 on Thursday donated medical consumables to expectant and nursing mother at health centres in their mandate Areas.
The benefitting health centres included Ubeji Health centre, Ogunu health centre and Edjeba health centre all in Warri South local government area of Delta State.
As part of the activities marking Rotary international month of maternal and child health care which reflects on of the seven areas of focus, the three clubs including Rotary clubs of Ubeji , Ogunu and Edjeba visited the three health centres to donates medical consumables to expectant and nursing mothers.
The clubs were at Ubeji health centre to donate the medical consumables thereafter visited the Ogunu health centre as well as Edjeba health centre all in a bid to raise the advocacy to place high premium for the welfare and health of mothers and their child.
The initiative according to the Presidents of the Collaborating clubs including Rotarian Daniel Edemayibo of Ubeji, Rotarian Sunny Oveisi of Edjeba and Rotarian Sunny Popo of Rotary club of Ogunu reflects Rotary international core mandate to promote healthy living as well as good personal and household hygiene routine.
The visit and donation to the various health centres had the Assistant District Governors, zone 12 and 13 Rotarian Lawrence Nwadiogbu and Rotarian klem Douglas who highlighted Rotary’s expectation as it concern mother and child.
They noted that humanitarian service a key essence of Rotary was the game changer in meeting the need of society especially the indigent ,emphasing that giving the harsh economic reality well meaning individuals should step up by filling the gap and compliment government efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
Medical experts were equally not left out as they shared their health tips with the expectant and nursing mothers.
The collaborating clubs in the cause of the visit welcomed a child delivered few minutes before their arrival at Edjeba health centre.
The exciting pregnant and nursing mothers together with the patrons of the various health centres appreciated Rotary international for the gesture.
