Rotary Clubs of Plantation City, Effurun City Centre and Osubi on Tuesday jointly donated Delivery kits to Expectant Mothers at Ovwian health centre in Udu local Government Area of Delta State .
The expectant mothers, who gathered at Ovwian Health Centre in the morning for their regular medical check-ups were excited when they saw Rotarians approaching them with delivery kits.
President of Rotary Club of Plantation City, Rotarian Charles Alaukwu, that of Effurun City Centre, Rotarian Crimson Ikpade, and Rotary Club of Osubi’s President, Rotarian Edwin Ijoni, stated that Rotary International cares about the health of expectant mothers and their children, noting that Rotary Club will continue to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable in the society.
They advised the expectant mothers to take good care of their health and always visit the health centre, as well as avoid self-medication.
Rotary District 9141 Assistant Governors present at the donation of the delivery kits to the expectant mothers. Rtn Wilson Kokarhaye, Rtn Lawrence Nwadiogbu and Rtn Klem Douglas, disclosed that Rotary International dedicated the month of July to maternal and child health care awareness to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity.
They said the maternal and child health care is one of the seven areas of focus in Rotary International and urged the expectant mothers not to miss their routine medical check-up for the benefit of the babies and themselves.
Representative of Matron of Ovwian Health Centre, Lovelyn Nwachukwu, and some of the expectant mothers, commended Rotary Clubs of Osubi, Plantation City and Effurun City Centre for their gesture.
