Rotary Club of Ogunu , District 9141 on Thursday , October 19,2023 walk through streets of Ogunu and Ugbuwangue communities to create Awareness of Polio among the local residents .
The polio Awareness walk was led by the President of Rotary club of Ogunu , Rotarian Sunny Popo
Rotarian Sunny Popo during the walk said the aim was to inform the residents of the communities of the importance of continuing to prevent the spread of the illness caused by Polio .
He appealed to parents take their children to Ogunu and Ugbuwangue health centres for vaccination against Polio .
He added that the Club has made it a yearly event to reach out to it’s mandated communities and ensure children between the ages of zero and five are immunize against Polio .
Rotarian Popo stated that Rotary international has fixed October 24th to mark world polio day and the club would join other Rotarians to embark on the walk to End polio in the world .
Also Speaking the Polio Chair , Rotarian Peter Dogumbe said Rotary club of Ogunu would continue to provide Polio vaccine to the communities inorder to prevent the children from contacting the dreaded polio Disease .
For their part Assistant Governor District 9141 zone 13 Rotarian Klem Douglas , Rotarians Daniel Oji, Austin Edon , Osamuyi Omokha and Onome Eboe-Ogoro appealed to parents to always visit the health centres in Ogunu and Ugbuwangue to immunize their children against Polio and other diseases .
Rotary club of Ogunu presented drinks and biscuits to the vaccinated children at the health centres in Ogunu and Ugbuwangue communities in Warri South local Government Area .
