Rotary club of Warri, District 9141 on Tuesday celebrated its 45th Anniversary at Hotel Peggy Airport Road ,Warri south local Government Area of Delta State.
Our Correspondent Reports that the 45th Anniversary featured recognition and awards to Charter members.
The 45th President of the Club, Rotarian Faith Ovie praised members of the club for their steadfastness and commitment to the ideals of Rotary.
The 45th Anniversary of Rotary Club of Warri District 9141 popularly called the Grandfather’s club by other Rotarians in Warri and it’s environs was attended by Past District Governor, Past Assistant District Governors ,Members of other Rotary clubs and friends of Rotary Club of Warri.
For starters, members has a night filled with Fun as the drums were rolled to mark the 45th Anniversary.
Rotarian Faith Ovie who unveiled the club’s Physiotherapy Project nearing completion appealed to members of the club and other Rotarians present to continue their good works for the benefit of society.
She commended members for their contributions and singled out some members tagged the Magnificent seven for their tirelessness contributions to the growth of the club.
The Charter members that were present at the 45th Anniversary are Past District Governor, Rotarian Henry Ejumudo, past Assistant District Governor Rotarian John Gula and a Past President Rotarian John Okenabirhe thanked God for still using them to serve humanity and contributing to the growth of the club.
Past Assistant District Governor Rotarian Sonny Enegbuma in a brief talk on Rotary club at 45 said the club was chartered 5th of March 1979,adding that
Rotary club of warri was the only existing club in Delta state at the creation of the state from Edo state .
Rotarian Enegbuma said the Club has given birth to 6 other Rotary clubs in warri
Assistant District Governor Zone 12 Rotarian Lawrence Nwadiogbu said he is looking forward to see that the Rotary clubs in Warri come together to build a Rotary complex where all the clubs in Warri will be holding their fellowship inorder to safe money used in paying rent .
Two new members into the club were inducted at the anniversary.
Meanwhile Rotary Club of Warri had earlier donated two sewing machines to Warri Correctional centre okere where the Deputy Comptroller of the center Mr Joseph Edo thanked the club for the donation .
The club also unveiled peace Bill Board and the four way test Bill Board at Warri Main market.
