Rotary Club Of Ubeji District 9141 on Monday commenced training of 100 persons comprising women and youths of Ubeji community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on different vocational skills at Bertrand Skill Acquisition Center, Ubeji.
Our Correspondent reports that the four-day training is part of activities to mark its Economic and Community Development month.
The 100 trainees resident in Ubeji Community are expected to become entrepreneurs and employers of labour at the end of the 4-day vocational skills training programme organised by Rotary Club of Ubeji.
The President of the club, Rotarian Daniel Edemayibo, said the training is aimed at providing various skills to the beneficiaries in order for them to be self-reliant, employers of labour and impact positively on their families and the society.
Rotarian Edemayibo also charged them to advance their knowledge base.
He disclosed that the training is in batches,stressing that it will continue till Thursday October 26,2023.
Also speaking the Project chairman, Rotarian Emmanuel Eshano while addressing the trainees said Rotary Club of Ubeji is not going to give them money but skills that will enable them make money after the training programme .
He added that at the end of the training, it is expected that Ubeji community economy would be stimulated as the100 persons trained would in turn employ others.
Rotarian Eshano charged the trainees to take advantage of the programme and immediately set up their own businesses.
The Proprietor of Bertrand Skill Acquisition Center, Mrs Jane Orhewere advised the trainees to be dedicated so that they can properly understand and learn their various vocational skills.
She urged them at the end of the training programme to feel free to come to her if they have any challenge .
Some of the trainees who spoke to newsmen thanked Rotary Club of Ubeji for the opportunity given to them to learn vocational skills.
The participants being trained on perfume, paint and soap production as well as snacks making would complete their training on October 26, 2023.
