Parents have been advised to know their children day to day activities inorder to prevent them from drug And Substance Abuse .
The President Rotary club of Edjeba , District 9141 Rotarian Sunny Oveisi gave the advice to Youths during the club’s Drug Abuse awareness campaign held on Saturday at College of Education Warri,Delta State during Edjeba Football competition.
Rotarian Sunny Oveisi stated that the club decided to engage the youths during the football competition to inform them of the danger of drug abuse .
He added that the club is using football as a vehicle to reach out to the youths as drugs are more abused during the festive season.
He added that the drug abuse awareness campaign is inline with one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus .

Also speaking Assistant District Governor zone 13 Rotarian Klem Douglas and the immediate past president of Rotary club of Edjeba Rotarian Nicholas Otobor
Stated that the rate of drug and Substance abuse in most communities in Nigeria has risen so much that most youths are addicted to drugs.
They advised parents and guardians to monitor their children and inform them of the dangers of drug abuse .
They added that Rotary club is at the forefront to ensure drug free society .
During the half time of the football match Dr Pero Endurance took time to lecture the footballers of the danger of drug and Substance Abuse .
Dr Pero lamented that millions of naira are spent on drug addicts every year , stressing that such money would have been used to improve the lives of youths through capacity building and empowerment programmes.
He explained that drug abuse has killed a lot of youths as it affects the liver and other vital organs of the body .
Dr Pero added that the life of the abuser is not only affected as his or her loved ones are also affected because of their care for the drug victim.
The lecture featured questions and answers session by the players .
At the end of the match Blue FC won Red FC in a penalty shootout .
Rotary club of Edjeba presented trophy, gold medals to Blue FC players and cash donation of 50 thousand naira ,while Red FC players got silver medals and cash donation of 30 thousand naira .
