As part of efforts to promote Basic Education and Literacy among young people, Rotary Club of Effurun GRA, District 9141 has donated Ten White Marker Boards to Two public schools in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state .
President of the club, Rotarian Benjamin Usiora who led other members of the club to present the items said the donation became necessary following lack of writing Boards in some public schools in the area.
While Inaugurating the white marker boards as well as presentation of Marker pen and dusters to Principals of Army Day Secondary School, Effurun, and Ekpan Basic Secondary school, Nigercat all in Uvwie Local Government Area, President of Rotary Club Effurun GRA, Rotarian Benjamin Usiora disclosed that the donation was in line with Rotary international month of Basic Education and Literacy campaign
He appealed to students to take their academic work seriously and assured them that Rotary club as a Humanitarian organization is ready to complement government’s effort in providing some basic needs for them.
Rotarian Benjamin Usiora also appealed to the management and learners to protect the items from vandals so as to serve it’s purpose.
Chairman, Project Committee Rotarian Kenneth Iyere also appealed to the staff and students to also maintain the items donated to them by the club.
Receiving the items, Principal of Army Day Secondary School Effurun, Mrs Onyake Angela and her counterpart in Ekpan Basic Secondary School, Mrs Anighoro Rhoda commended members of Rotary Club of Effurun GRA for the gesture and good will towards meeting the needs of Public schools in the area.
They assured members of the club that the School will make judicious use of the items donated to them and prayed God’s blessings on them.
Some learners whose joy knew no bounds also thanked Rotary Club of Effurun GRA for coming to their aid.
