The Provost of College of Education Warri ( COE ) , Dr Dickson Onovwakpoma Oyovwi (JP) has lauded Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori for his interest in the accreditation of the college by the National Commission For Colleges of Education ( NCCE) Abuja.
Oyovwi made the commendation in his key note address at the opening ceremony of NCCE accreditation of programmes of the college at the college on Monday 10th February, 2025.
” This preparation has been on for some months now and finally, the team is here and I must tell you that this is possible as a result of the interest of the state governor, Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori in this college”
Oyovwi also extended his gratitude to the chairman of the Governing Council of the college, Hon ( Mrs ) Shola Diabo for her commitment and efforts in ensuring that the COE programmes are accredited.
The Provost of COE Warri was further full of praises for the management team, heads of department ( HOD ), staff and students of the college for putting their best for the advancement of the college.
Oyovwi in his address noted that in an exercise such as the accreditation, it cannot be expected to be one hundred percent perfect most importantly given to the state of the Nigerian economy.
He therefore stated that “The college solicit for your understanding in your evaluation and to assist in the improvement of the institution. So at the end ,we all have cause to praise the Lord” he added.

Oyovwi had earlier noted that accreditation is the process of evaluating an educational institution or programme to ensure it meets certain quality standards .
” It is a way to show that an institution is providing a strong education ” he added.
The Director, Academic Programmes National Commission For Colleges of Education ( NCCE) , Abuja Dr Umar Adamu Kwami who was ably represented by the team leader of the accreditators , Dr Abdulrahman Yahaya in his key note address at the event corroborated the position of the Provost of College of Education Warri , Dr Oyovwi on accreditation of programmes , when he stated on paragraph four of his address that ” Accreditation is not a fault – finding mission. Rather, it is a collaborative effort between the institution and the NCCE, aimed at raising the standard of education.
” It is an opportunity to reflect on current state of the institution, celebrate its achievements, and identify areas that require improvement.”
Dr Kwami commended the leadership of College of Education Warri for the hard work and diligence that they gone into preparing for the accreditation exercise.
” I have no doubt that your management and staff are committed to the ideals of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
” I encourage you to engage fully with the accreditation process, as the feedback you receive will be valuable for strengthening the institution ‘ s academic programmes and overall operations .”
The Director Academic Programmes National Commission For Colleges of Education in his address, reaffirmed the NCCE ‘ s policy in the promotion of quality teacher education in Nigeria.
” It is my hope that this accreditation exercise will further enhance the status of the College of Education Warri, as a center of academic excellence. ” he added
