Delta Pilgrims led by the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon Ejiro Terry Etagherure today commenced tour of historical sites mentioned in the Holy Bible.
The team members were at the Mukawir (Machaerus) believed to be where John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded by King Herod Antipas, and his head given to a female dancer on a platter in fulfillment of the King’s promise.
The hilltop is significant due to the spiritual relevance of John the Baptist, recorded to have Baptized our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. John is believed to be Jesus’s cousin, but would not have grown up together.
John the Baptist is famous for baptizing Jesus at Bethany beyond the Jordan.
It was indeed an exciting moment for Team Delta, especially for those visiting the historical biblical site for the first time.
