The commissioner for Environment, Mr Ejiro Jamani has enjoined Residents and cooperate organizations in Warri to key into ” “Operation Keep Warri Clean” initiative by the chairman Warri south local government, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro.
Mr Jamani made the appeal while flagging off operation keep Warri clean at king George Hall warri. Warri south local government area of Delta state .
Correspondent reports that the event was attended by the chairman Delta state waste management board,Mr Mofe Edema Private sector participants,PSP stakeholders in the environment sector amongst others.
Mr Jamani while commending the chairman of Warri south local government,comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro for the initiative urged residents of Warri to imbibe the habit of cleanliness .
He added that the Environmental Sanitation Policy recognizes that the Local government authorities have the primary responsibility for environmental sanitation and refuse management across their localities.
While inaugurating the beautification and solar lightning project and the unveiling of the customize waste bins executed by Warri south local government chairman comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro,Mr Jamani said the Ministry for environment is proud to be associated with Warri South Local Government Authority for the initiative of “Operation Keep Warri Clean” with the procurement of sanitation tools and equipment for effective and efficient management of waste .
The chairman of Warri south local Government,comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro urged Deltans to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda, emphasizing that maintaining hygiene and taking responsibility for waste management are key to achieving a cleaner Warri.
Comrade Agbateyiniro called on residents of Warri to ensure they key into operation keep Warri clean initiative.
Key speakers including Mr Oisemaye Kehinde, Olufemi Ogunkeyede,Dr. Newton Jibunor,Mrs Grace Ndobu and Mr Mode Augustine spoke on the need to manage and recycle waste as well as covert it to wealth .
While praising the Warri south council chairman for the initiative, chairman of Delta State waste management board and Former chairman of Warri South local government , Hon. Mofe Edema highlighted the importance of collaboration between the PSP and members of the communities in Warri in maintaining cleanliness.
Earlier The supervisor for Environment and head of Environment Department, Hon femi Okorodiden and Mrs Stella Mofe also commended the Warri south council Boss for the initiative,urging residents in Warri to keep their environment clean as enforcement of operation keep Warri clean will commenced immediately.
