The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has sent a condolence message to the Senior Special Assistant, Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo over the death of his mother.
The immediate past Governor who represented Delta North Senatorial District at the Senate, prayed for the peaceful repose of Egugbo’s mother, Deaconess Mary Egugbo.
Comrade Egugbo was The Pointer Newspapers’ Chief of Bureau, Government House, Asaba before Sen. Okowa as Governor of Delta State singled him out and made him his Special Assistant on Media, a position he held till the end of the administration on May 29, 2023.
On assumption of office by the incumbent Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Egugbo was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant, Media to the Governor.
Former Governor Okowa wrote, “Accept my condolence Fidelis on the passing on of your mother.
“May her soul rest in peace and may the Lord God fill in the vacuum she left and give you and other siblings the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Reacting to the message, Egugbo said that he was elated to receive the message from the former Governor, saying, “the burial of my mother will take place on Saturday, December 30, I have been receiving a lot of condolence messages, phone calls, and visits from friends and relations but this particular message from our immediate past Governor to say the least, was soul lifting and I thank him for the show of love.”
Deaconess Mary Egugbo passed on to glory on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the age of 70 years.
