World oldest King, Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, Ogbon Ogoni Oghoro the first has transited
The demise of the revered Ohworode of Olomu was announced on Friday by the Otota of the Kingdom, Olorogun Macaulay Popo at the Monarch Palace , Ughelli South local Government Area of Delta State .
The Ohworode of Olomu who ascended the Olomu royal throne 35 years ago was the Chairman of the Forum of Urhobo Traditional Rulers.
The revered Monarch is the only Royal Canon of the Anglican Communion in Africa.
He was also the father of the first Nigerian female Ambassador to Western Germany and the Philippines.
The Palace of the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom was wearing a sad look though the popular Ema dancing troupe tried to stir the spirits of the Olomu Traditional Council, the royal family Community President General amongst others but the covered throne with red cloth was obvious signal that something was amiss.
The announcement that the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom has joined his ancestors was heralded by twenty one canons.
For his part, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje who is the Akpile of Olomu Kingdom said due to the happening, there will be 21 days of mourning in the kingdom, no celebration of burial and marriage ceremonies
He added that Chiefs should not adorn themselves in the traditional red cap and should add black armband to any dressing during the period .
Olorogun Ebenezer Okorodudu addressed News men on behalf of the Otota and Akpile of Olomu Kingdom.
The burial plans according to the place will be announced shortly.
The monarch bagged a Honorary doctorate degree from the Delta State University Abraka for his contribution to education.
