The All Progressive Congress ( APC) member representing Warri South Constituency 11 at the Delta State House of Assembly Chief ( Hon ) Benson Obire has commiserated with Agbarha Warri kingdom and Warri South Local Government Area over the victims of the Ughoton boat mishap of Thursday 22nd June , 2023.
This was contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman Agbarha Warri Regency Council, Agbarha Warri, made available to press at the weekend.
The lawmaker who is the Deputy Unuovwodo of Otovwodo( Agbassa )Community , Warri stated among other things that ” it is with a very heavy heart and anguish of soul that I communicate my commiseration and deepest condolences to the Agbarha-Warri Kingdom and the good people of Warri South LGA in general, over the loss of some of our illustrious children who died in the unfortunate boat mishap on Thursday 22nd June, 2023.
” The horrible and tragic news of this unfortunate incident came to me as a rude shock and total disbelief, which I am yet to recover from. “
The Agbarha Warri high chief who bears the title of Ejirovie ( let’s praise the king ) of Agbarha Warri kingdom also noted that “It is worthy of note that most of these precious souls had gone to honour the Kingdom by attending a ceremony that concerned giving final respect to the departed soul of a notable son of the Kingdom, in the person of Late Sir. Dr. Clifford Orere.”
The Delta State House of Assembly member who described the accident as tragic, remarked that the losses were irreparable to Agbarha Warri kingdom and indeed Warri South Local Government Area
The lawmaker prayed God to grant the families of those that lost their lives in the fatal boat mishap, the people of Agbarha Warri kingdom and indeed Warri South Local Government Area the fortitude to bear the great lost and repose of the deceased victims .
He further prayed that such a misfortune should not befall the kingdom and the local government area again.
It was gathered that 18 persons boarded the ill-fated boat from the said burial ceremony in Agbarha Warri riverine community of Ukpokiti and that 13 persons lost their lives in the tragic accident
Some of those that lost their lives included a very esteemed Agbarha Warri high chief , Chief Francis Ugbejevun who is the Oghwuvwie R ‘ Ode of Agbarha Warri kingdom, a pregnant mother and her 3 children
