Delta State monthly environmental sanitation for the month of June will hold on Saturday, 29th June, 2024, between the hours of 7.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m.
According to a statement by Director of Public Communication and Functioning Permanent Secretary in the ministry of information,Theresa Adiabua Oliko stated that during the exercise
there will be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles and residents are advised to cut overgrown weeds, desilt their drainages and keep their environment clean to prevent the spread of diseases, as it is the responsibility of all residents to clean 20 metres radius of their premises.
The statement disclosed that the
Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro, will monitor the exercise in Uvwie Local Government Area with stakeholders in the environment sector, while other Local Government councils will also be monitored by government officials.
It adds that Officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, local government councils and other relevant authorities will evacuate the resultant waste to approved dump sites.
It emphasized that those found not taking part in the exercise will be brought before the mobile Magistrate Court for prosecution.
