Delta state Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has approved an increase in the monthly upkeep stipends for Ex-Persons Affected with Leprosy (Ex-PAL’s) in the state .
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs Community and Social Development, Hon.(Evang) Princess Pat Ajudua Ph.D made the disclosure during an inspection visit to Ex-PAL’s Leprosorial Settlement Centre at Eku in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state as part of her tour to the various facilities in the Ministry .
She also revealed that the increase of the monthly upkeep stipends for Ex-Persons Affected with Leprosy (Ex-PAL’s) is to commence from the month of May.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs Community and Social Development added that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori also gave approval for renovations of certain facilities within their settlement.
Princess Ajudua who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary Mrs. Oghenekevwe Agas and other top management staff of the Ministry, noted that their cries had been heard by the state Governor .
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs Community and Social Development made a personal donation as she appreciated the population of the Ex-PAL’s, commending them for their peaceful disposition and assured them that she would approach the appropriate quarters in seeing how their Community could become a polling unit as they anticipated MORE from the Oborevwori’s Administration.
The Chairman of the Leprosorial Community Mr. Paul Oke, appreciated the Commissioner and her team and expressed how delighted they were with the good news as they showered praises on the state Governor for being passionate about catering for the less privileged and for having a listening ear.
Mr. Oke however appealed to the Ministry to look into other challenging matters that was of concern to them as a community such as empowerment for their children, medications/dressing materials, lack of electricity, repair of their solar tank, scholarships for their children in school, sensitization of the public on Leprosy being curable amongst others.
