Residents of Niger State on Monday took to the streets to demonstrate over the lingering economic hardship in the country.
According to Daily Post, the protesters chanted anti-government songs while marching on the streets.
Those involved carried placards with the following inscriptions, ‘Enough is Enough’; ‘Stop Anti-Masses Policies’; ‘We Are Not Slaves In Our Country’; ‘Hardship Is Unbearable’, ‘Fuel Subsidy Must Be Back’, among others.
Daily Sun reported that citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada were warned by their governments over potential violence during the planned protest.
Speaking in separate travel advisories, the aforementioned nations issued security alerts, warning citizens to avoid areas where confrontations between security agencies and protesters might occur.
Americans were cautioned by the US Mission in Abuja to shun the demonstration and avoid crowds while staying updated on local media.
