Delta state Commissioner for Environment Mr Ejiro Jamani has ordered the demolition of unapproved uncompleted building blocking the free flow of waterways at Ogiyede street off Ogunu ,warri South local government area of Delta state
Mr Jamani made the disclosure during a current affairs pidgin language programme on radio Delta melody FM shortly after leaving the building site at Ogiyede on Saturday morning .
Mr Jamani said the yet to be known owner of the building blocked the well constructed drainage and waterways thereby obstructing the flow of water to its settlement which has in turn caused several damages to properties in the area.
The commissioner who paid an on the spot visit to the area to have a first hand information about the place was unhappy by the action of both the owner of the building and the seller of the road.
The commissioner condemned the ungodly act capable of causing serious havoc to the people of the area and ordered the immediate demolition of the building as he warned residents to desist from erecting structures on Waterways and Unapproved land
Mr Jamani wondered who approved the building of the duplex , stressing that the building would be demolished to check perennial flooding of Ogiyede street .
The commissioner for Environment , Mr Ejiro Jamani said the state Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori had made several moves to ensure environmental restoration in the state , adding that the ministry of Environment would not tolerate anyone that wants to sabotage the Governor’s effort .
Mr Jamani noted that with the demolition of illegal structures and buildings blocking free flow of water through the right channels ,Warri and it’s environs would be free from flooding .
