The vicar of St Stephen’s Anglican church, venerable Friday Ejemrae, has highlighted monopoly in essential services and product, as part of challenges hindering growth and better living in Nigeria.
Venerable Ejemrae who stated this during the independence service held in St Stephen’s Anglican church Jakpa road, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, noted that lack of healthy competition, in delivering basic essentials such as electricity supply has deterred development and better life.
With the sermon titled “handling opposition,” the priest explained that opposition, which often interfer with progress in Nigeria, happen when people stand against ideas that will enable success, especially when they perceive that such ideas will not benefit them, or will lead to exposing their evil deeds.
“People who carry out opposition”, according to Ejemrae ” are not happy with good things. They castigate those doing the right things and recruit others to join them in carrying out their evil skimming.”
While proffering solutions to opposition, the cleric highlight the involvement of wisdom, love and initiating practical godly steps, after praying, as demonstrated in Nehemiah chapter four, when Sanballat and Tobiah tried to stop Nehemiah from rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.
Speaking further, the venerable warned, “be careful so that people will not recruit you to fight what you know nothing about because every action you make have consequences.”
