A Frontline candidate of the Asagbaship race, Prof Emmanuel Onwuka who hails from Isieke in Ugbomanta Quarters of Asaba, the headquarters of Delta State has asked the people of Asaba and the general public to ignore the rumour making the round that he is no longer contesting for the position of the stool of the Asagba of Asaba.
Prof. Onwuka was reacting to rumour making the round that, he is no longer in the Asagbaship race.
He said the rumour is being initiated and spread by those who feel threatened by his emergence as one of the most qualified and preferred candidate for the reverend ancient throne of Asaba Kingdom. He described the perpetrators as enemies of Asaba progress, and urged the people to jettison such rumour.
Prof. Onwuka revealed that, he is well qualified and has been screened and recommended along side two others as candidates for the position of
the Asagba of Asaba by the Umuonishe Committee on the selection of Asagba of Asaba.
“Those the committee recommended are; Mr.Tony Ogugua Konwea, Prof. Emmanuel Onwuka and Ogbuechi Chinedu Esealuka”, he stated .
He further noted that, the Umuonishe Committee has not adopted any person as the sole candidate for the position, a decision that will be reached in due time with considerations of other criteria as will be determined by the traditional laws of the land.
Recall that, the previous Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Chike Joseph Edozien, CFR joined is ancestors sometime this year. In conclusion of his traditional passage rites, a new Asagba is expected to ascend the throne.
