The President General of Agbarha Warri kingdom , Chief Emmanuel Ememu ( JP) has vehemently denied that he was part of the decision to remove the bill board of Urhobo Progress Union ( UPU) along Okere Road Warri as published in the media.
Ememu who spoke to our correspondent on the issue disclosed that a security meeting was held where he along with other stakeholders including government aides and security agents were in attendance.
He swore that no decision was reached as to the removal of the bill board located inside the premises of the age long UPU Hall along Okere ” rather we ( stakeholders ) asked the government security agents to investigate the destruction / removal of the bill board , fishout those that made statements that are capable of igniting another ethnic crisis in Warri as well as advised community leaders to keep the peace in Warri. ” he stated.
Ememu therefore stated that he was surprise to hear of allegation of the removal of the bill board by government security agents under the instructions the chairman of Warri South Local Government Council.
” As a blue blooded Urhobo man , I will never be part of such an unjust decision. More so when the bill board is located in the premises of UPU.” he added.
While xraying the issue that led to the destruction / removal of the UPU bill board.
The President General of Agbarha Warri Kingdom recalled that the inscription on the bill was ‘ UPU Hall , Otovwodo Agbarha Warri kingdom.
To this, he noted that Okere Road stretching along three kingdoms vis-a-vis (from the Warri / Sapele Road end ) Otovwodo Agbassa in Agbarha Warri kingdom, Okere Urhobo Kingdom and Okere Itsekiri and that UPU is located in Otovwodo Agbassa Community Warri area and therefore stated that there was nothing wrong with the inscription on the UPU bill board.
He referred to the popular Okere / Ugberikoko Road that stretches between Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area to Ugberikoko in Uvwie Local Government Area to substantiate his claim.
” Let us assume that there was something wrong with the inscription on the bill board, the destruction of the bill board by some faceless hoodlums and subsequent removal of the bill board under the alleged order of the local government council could make one infer that the hoodlums were sent to destroy the bill board.” he added.
