Protesters in Effurun, Uvwie local government Areas of Delta State on Thursday join other protesters across the Nation to protest against hardship and #EndbadgovernanceinNigeria#.
The protesters mainly youths matched along the ever busy Effurun-Ebrumede Expressway singing and dancing along the road amid a heavy presence of security agencies.
Reports indicate that markets and shops were closed. Corporate institutions such as banks also closed their gates mostly over fears that the protest may turn violent giving way to hoodlums to cause mayhem.
The unarmed protesters were reportedly chased in different directions by youths who wielded all sorts of woods and irons.
As at twelve noon vehicular movement had been restored at Effurun Roundabout with people going about their businesses unhindered.
It is however not clear what strategy the protesters may employ going forward in registering their unhappiness with the State of the Nation.
One of the protesters claimed that some politicians paid the youths to chase them away that no protest will be allowed in the area.
At about 4:06 pm hundreds of protesters were still eager to carryout the protest despite the heavy presence of security agencies.
The DPO of Ekpan Mr Aliyu Shaba was seen with the vice chairman of Uvwie appealing to the crowd to shelve the protest , saying the approved time for the protest was over .
