There was an hike in pump price of fuel in all the filling stations monitored by our correspondent in Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas on Monday 29th May , 2023.
Market survey indicted that a litre of the petroleum product was sold for 250 naira and above by most filling stations .
While a litre of the product in black market was sold 300 naira and above .
Prior to the increase in the pump price, a litre of the petroleum product was sold for between 205 to 210 naira by most filling stations .
While it was sold for 240 to 250 naira in the black market.
It was also observed that even with the increase in price , some filling stations were closed for business.
There were also long queues of vehicles at filling stations where the price of the petroleum product was cheaper.
Managers and pump attendants that were approached by our correspondent for comments kept sealed lips .
Attempt to hear from Department of Petroleum Resources ( DPR ) by our correspondent also met brick walls at as the time of filing this report.
