A Warri South Local Government Area based Non Governmental Organization ( NGO ) Friends Against Drugs Abuse ( FADA ) Foundation has lauded Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori on his anti drug campaign in Delta State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the leader of the foundation, Comrade Chief Ejiroghene Erifevieme on behalf of the foundation made available to newsmen in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area on his return from the launch on Tuesday 4th February, 2025.
The statement noted that the launch of the campaign on drug abuse by Governor Oborevwori in Asaba headquarters of Delta State at Government House Asaba on Monday 3rd February, 2025 was timely.
The statement also hailed Governor Oborevwori for the theme of the event which is: ‘ No Drugs, No Healthy Living For A Greater Future ‘
The statement was further full of praises for Governor Oborevwori for the aims and objectives of the launch as it noted that ‘ it is to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among young people, especially those in secondary and higher schools.
‘Governor Oborevwori should be commended for considering the introduction of compulsory drug test for all new intakes in secondary and tertiary institutions in Delta State ‘ the statement added.
The statement gave kudos to Governor Oborevwori for directing that the campaign should be extended to primary schools as it noted that these are the foundation where pupils and students are prone to to negative peers influence .
It also noted that this will help in reducing drug menace in society.
The statement gladly noted that FADA Foundation has long been in the forefront of the campaign against drugs abuse in the state through various visits to secondary schools, communities and holding of seminars.
FADA Foundation however stated that the Delta State Government launch on campaign against drugs was a boost to its efforts on the life saving campaign.
The statement hailed the Director General of State Orientation and Communications, Dr Oghenesivbe Latimore, the Delta Commander of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA ) Abubaker Wada , a lawyer, the representative of Governor Oborevwori and Commissioner For Health Dr Joseph Onojaeme and a host of others to numerous to mention for the contributions towards the success of the event.
The FADA in the statement specifically appreciated the Warri NPA NDLEA Commander ( narcotics )Ann Okoebor who it said contributed to commitment towards fight against drugs abuse in the riverine areas and for her constant patronage with FADA Foundation
