As part of Efforts to curb the prevalent life challenges in the hearts of Deltans occasioned by the current economic hardship in the country, a Non-governmental Organization, known as Eye on the Future Initiative, (EFI) has launched a mental healthcare outreach at Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.
Our correspondent reports that the healthcare outreach was in collaboration with Bomadi local government council.
The healthcare outreach with the
theme in pidgin language “Nor Go Kill Yourself ,E go better kicked started with road walk along major roads in Bomadi town by members of Eye on the Future initiative to educate the people on the need to take their mental health seriously.
The programme featured medical tests on the health status of patients, proper recommendations and advice to the patients to take life easy despite the current economic situation of the country.
Speaking to newsmen, during the exercise, the executive Director of Eye on the Future Initiative EFI, Comrade Josephine Omordior, and the the chairman, Board of Trustees Comrade Victor Sorokwu noted that the outreach programme was born out of the NGO’s desire to address the mental healthcare concerns and needs of the people.
They added the health care outreach programme was to prevent depression as a alot of people are passing through hardship, stress and many other life challenges.
They further added that the body decided to choose Bomadi local government as venue for the outreach programme because the council chairman Hon. Dagidi Andaye,is a man who wants the best for his people
The secretary to the local government council, Mr Famous Ofurobiri, who represented Bomadi Council Boss, Hon Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, commended members of EFI for starting the programme from Bomadi, stressing that it was initiated at the right time.
Hon Andaye informed the group that to relieve the people of Bomadi local government area from the present economic challenges he has kicked off Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme.
which will make the participants to be self-reliant.
In the same vein, the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Adaka Amame-eniye, described the programme as a welcome development to the people of the local government area
Some participants who spoke to newsmen after their checkups, said that they were given proper advice on how to guard against issues not to affect their blood pressures adversely.
Highpoint of the health care outreach was the presentation of a plaque to the chairman of Bomadi local government council, Hon. Andaye, as patron of EFI .
