There was high compliance of residents of Warri in the last Delta State Government monthly environmental sanitation exercise as Chief Magistrate Elehor Vivian of Magistrate Court 5 , Warri convicted 33 environmental sanitation offenders in the local government area.
Of the above number , 9 persons were discharged and aquited, 6 persons paid fines and 18 persons did community service as punishment.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner For Environment, Delta State, Ejiro Jamani, the Executive Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council , Hon Isaac Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, his vice , Rt Hon Kingsley Edafiadjebre, the Supervisory Councillor For Environment , Hon Okorodiden Femi and Head of Department ( HOD ) Health Warri South Local Government Council, Mrs Mode Stella led a team of some councillors , health officials of the local government council , media men and police men in the supervision and monitoring of the exercise.
The communities that were supervised and monitored before the expiration of environmental sanitation exercise hours, are : Ekurede Itsekiri, Igbori, Ubeji and Ifiekporo .
The Executive Chairman of the local government council, Hon Agbateyiniro directed the Supervisory Councillor For Environment , Hon Okorodiden Femi to clear some refuse dumps in Ekurede Itsekiri, Igbori and Ubeji .
The Warri South Local Government Council boss also fixed a meeting between the local council and leaders of Igbori Community on the cleaning of the canal in the community .
In order to ensure a cleaner environment in the said communities, Hon Agbateyiniro approved the appointment of a taskforce person on environmental sanitation in each of the said community.
He further directed that the health department of the local government council to issue abatement notice to some filthy compounds in Igbori Community.
Those who spoke to our correspondent in a media chat, were full of praises for the Chairman of the local government council Hon Isaac Weyinmi Agbateyiniro for his environmental sanitation drive in the local government area.
The respondents also hailed the Supervisory Councillor For Environment Hon Okorodiden Femi in the same vein as they described him as one of the best supervisory councilor the local government council has ever produced .
