Members of Godwin Emonerame Ogbe Family Led Executive Committee of Erovie Quarters, Effurun have refuted allegations levelled against them in a disclaimer by some members of the family.
This was contained in a letter of rejoinder by their lawyers titled : ‘ Re : Notice of disclaimer of actions / conducts of certain groups of persons parading themselves as the authorised / accredited representatives; to wit : head and principal members of the Ogbe Family of Erovie Quarters , especially as it pertain to unscrupulous sale of Ogbe Family lands at Odidimi. off Effurun / Sapele Road , Uvwie Local Government Area Delta State
‘ A call to members of the public to beware ‘dated 15th January 2024 made available to the press.
They faulted claim that it was only the head of the family that is authorised to allot / alienate the family property as they referred to the Ogbe Family ‘ s constitution in section 5 (111) ( a) . to support their claim .
The said section of the Ogbe Family ‘ s constitution states among others that the executive committee are empowered to sign all Ogbe Family landed documentations.
‘ Also , section 4 ( 7 ) of the constitution as it concern supremancy of the constitution states that all documents of Ogbe landed property shall be executed by the four ( 4 ) gates and the exco chairman.
‘ Section 4 ( 6) particularly and emphatically warned that any document including deed of conveyance regarding any landed property belonging to Ogbe Family, executed without the notice and consent of the Executive Chairman first sought and obtained, such document including deed of conveyance, shall be null and void ‘ members of Executive committee of Ogbe Family added.
They also noted that the disclaimers made an error for stating that there is no standing committee of the family as they argued that the Godwin Emonerame led executive committee elected into office in July 2022 still subsists till date going by its 4 years tenure.
They further argued that procedures for discipline of erring family members as contained in articles 7,8, 1 of the family ‘ s constitution which read in part ‘ no member who breaches the law and order of the family shall be suspended or expelled for any reason except due process established by the Ogbe Family of Erovie constitution is only observed ‘
Members of Executive Committee of Ogbe Family therefore declared that the disclaimer was null and void abinitio.
Members of the Executive committee of Ogbe Family in their rejoinder also clarified that ‘ Godwin Emonerame led executive committee of Ogbe Family wish to make some clarifications and erase some doubts that apart from the nine acres each given to the board of trustees and other principal members of the family, which was approved by the general council of the family, no land has been unscrupulously sold by the chairman, any member of the exco either jointly and or collectively ‘
They maintained that they remain the rightful authentic body to administer the family ‘ s landed property , particularly at the Odidimi Farm land by the constitution of the family.
They therefore urged government and the public to discountenant the disclaimer they were reacting to.
