Ekedayen Outreach Foundation donated school items to students of Alegbo Secondary, Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State in celebration of the 54th birthday anniversary of the wife of the governor of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori on Tuesday 6th February, 2024.
The items donated were biros and note books.
The Chairman of the foundation, Pastor Vincent Ekedayen in his address to the students, shortly before he made the donation, told the students not be intimidated by any person for attending a government school.
He noted that most great personalities in the society including Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori attended government schools.
Ekedayen in his thought provoking speech stated that it is better for the students project their school than for the school to project them.
He also stressed that education is not a scam . ” Education is the key to any meaningful development. With education , you can achieve whatever good thing you want to achieve in life . ” he stated.
Ekedayen who is aspiring to become the chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council under the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) had earlier made it clear that the NGO was not sponsored by anybody to make the donations and that the gesture was aimed at celebrating the greatness of Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori.
The Principal of the secondary school, Chief ( Mrs ) Rachael Egukawhore who spoke to our correspondent applauded and appreciated the NGO for the donation as she unbehalf of the students promised that donated items will be used for the purpose for which they donated.
Ekedayen who spoke to our correspondent shortly after the event, explained that the gesture was borne out of the dream of Governor Oborevwori MORE Agenda .
He reaffirmed that the gesture was also aimed at celebrating the 54th birthday anniversary of Deaconess Oborevwori.
” She is known for loving and sharing. So we are celebrating her birthday anniversary with what she is known for ” he added.
Pastor Vincent Ekedayen also disclosed that the foundation encouraged education by sponsoring payment of fees of external examinations for indigent students, foot medical bills for less privileged persons and promote peace in the society.
He however identified inadequate finance as a major challenge confronting the foundation.
Ekedayen also stated that some communities do not welcome NGOs ” because they they think we have political motives ”
He then called on public spirited individuals, corporate organisations and government to assist the foundation in moving forward.
