The Unuevworo of Uvwie Kingdom, High Chief Hope Akasa (JP) has appealed for calm from female residents of Alegbo / Emuedafe that protested against alleged Benin Electricity Distribution Company ( BEDC ) prolonged power outage in their areas on Friday 11th August, 2023.
Akasa who spoke to the protesting women at the BEDC office in Effurun advised that dialogue was the best way in solving problems .
He advised landlords to employ dialogue in resolving the issue between the residents of the affected areas and BEDC and not to encourage female residents to embark on a protest.
Akasa who is the highest tradititional chief in Uvwie Kingdom however admonished that BEDC officers must be up and doing in the discharge of their duties to avoid such protest. ” protest should not be encouraged in Uvwie Kingdom ” he added.
The Unuevworo (the traditional mouth piece ) of Etche R ‘ Erovie ( tradititioal administrative unit) in Uvwie Kingdom , High Chief Sunday Omeni Agbugbu ( JP) who was at the office of BEDC during the protest, spoke in the same vein.
He however scheduled a peace meeting between both parties at his posh residence along Uti Road on Saturday August 12th, 2023.
