The immediate past President of Okere Urhobo Development Movement , Comrade Cyril Eboh has stated that Okere Urhobo people should be grateful to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
He stated this while reacting to a publication by a Warri Urhobo group that stated that Warri Urhobos were in support of Chief Edwin Clark ‘s call on Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC )probe on former Governor Okowa on oil derivation funds that accrued to Delta State from 2015 – 2023 .
The renowned youth leader noted that Okere Urhobo Kingdom benefited immensely from the administration of former Governor Okowa in infrastructural development as he cited the good road networks started and completed by former Governor Okowa as well as the ongoing massive drainage projects started by the former governor in Okere Urhobo Kingdom.
” We have never had it so good.
“So it will be ungrateful for any Okere Urhobo man to backed support call on EFCC probe on former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa” he added.
Eboh therefore appealed to former Governor Okowa to ignore the said publication as he stated that the publication was not in the interest of Okere Urhobos nay Warri Urhobos .
However he used the opportunity to appeal to Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori to favourably look into the alleged lopsidedness in political appointments against the Warri Urhobos in Warri South Local Government Area ” considering the fact that the Warri Urhobos are more in population and size in Warri South Local Government Area “, he added.
Eboh also appealed to Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori to include the Urhobo language in the curriculum of schools in Warri South Local Government Area as he noted that it was only the Itsekiri language that was being taught in schools in Warri South Local Government Area at as the time of the media chat.
