The publisher and Editor-In-Chief of Warri-based tabloid, GbaramatuVoice Newspaper, Jacob Abai, escaped death by the whisker on new year day in Warri, Delta State.
According to Bigpen report, Abai narrowly cheated death after his car engulfed with fire on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at about 3:05pm, along Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Expressway, Warri, Delta state.
Abai, in a statement on Tuesday, expressed thanks to God for rescuing him for the shackles of death as his car reportedly caught fire while on motion.
While thanking relations, revered traditional rulers, religious leaders, friends, professional colleagues, who reached out to him over the incident, he said that he had a close shave with death but God came in between to rescue him.
Saying that the remote cause of the inferno remains both sketchy and hazy, Abai said that his car got burnt completely in the ranging fire.
He said that he is yet to fathom how he got out of the car before it was engulfed with the fire but “I must however, use this opportunity to announce that I am alive, hale and hearty”, he added.

Abai, however said that the unfortunate firestorm would not in any way, affect or dampen the newspaper’s resolve to promoting an egalitarian society where peace, justice, equity, good and accountable governance shall reign supreme through the newspaper’s daily commentaries and objective analysis of political and socioeconomic developments within the Niger Delta states and the nation as a whole.
