Ahead of the July 13 Delta State Local Government elections, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has called on the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, to conduct a free and fair election.
Chief Emami made the call while presenting the party’s flag and campaign materials as support to the APC chairmanship candidates in Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.

Members of APC in Delta State have intensified their electioneering activities to solicit votes in the forthcoming local government elections.
It is to boost the campaign and ensure the victory of the party that Chief Ayiri Emami, who is the leader of the party in Delta South Senatorial Districts, is supporting the party in Warri South, Warri South West and Warri North local government areas with campaign materials.
Chief Emami charged the chairmanship and councilorship candidates to campaign vigorously to the nooks and crannies of their local government areas for them to win the election.
He alluded to the concern expressed by some APC supporters their votes may not count in an election conducted by DSIEC.
He assured them that if the election is held all APC candidates in the three Warri local government areas would win.
“I understand the fear of some of our supporters that the government doesn’t want to conduct elections but wants to write the results. Be rest assured that if there is any election, I am confident that our candidates will win.”
Chief Emami opined if the state Governors who are advocating for state police continue to oversee the state Independent Electoral Commission, they should ensure there is a free and fair election in all local governments in their state.
“If the states are advocating for state police and are also overseeing the state Independent Electoral Commission, they must ensure there is a free and fair election in all local governments in the state.”
For their parts, the APC chairmanship candidates of Warri South, Warri North and Warri Southwest, Prince Francis Yonwuren, Chief Samson Omamuli,
and Mamamu Bene Youkore
expressed appreciation to Chief Ayirimi Emami for the opportunity, and assured party members as well as their supporters that victory would be secured as they would go out into the creeks and riverine areas to campaign.
