Delta State House of Assembly has suspended the member representing Ughelli North 1 Constituency, Hon. Matthew Omonade for 14 Legislative days for gross misconduct.
In a statement by the leader of the house, the majority leader, Honourable Emeka Nwaobi moved a motion on the breach of Privilege in line with the standing orders of the house.
The motion which was seconded by the Chief Whip and member representing Sapele state constituency, Honourable Perkins Umukoro called for the member representing Ughelli North 1 Constituency to be suspended from the service of the house for 14 Legislative days for gross misconduct, to handover to the management of the house all government properties in his possession as well as constitute an Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the gross misconduct by the Honourable Matthew Omonade.
The speaker, Right Honourable Emomotimi Guwor thereafter ordered the immediate suspension of the member representing Ughelli North 1 Constituency, Hon. Matthew Omonade and escorted out of the hollowed chambers.
Right Honourable Guwor also ordered the immediate handover of government properties including his official vehicle and also constituted six man Ad-hoc Committee to report to the house in one week, to be headed by the Majority Leader, Honourable Emeka Nwaobi.
