About 48 hours after the release into circulation of the newly designed denomination of N200, N500, and N1,000 by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, multiple sources revealed that most commercial banks in Warri and it’s Environs ,Delta State are yet to get the new redesigned Naira Notes .
ACTUAL NEWS Report that most Commercial Banks are still paying customers with the old naira notes as at the time of filing this report.
It was also gathered that the Automated Teller Machines, and ATMs, were dispensing old N500 and N1,000 notes.
Reacting to the non availability of the new redesigned Naira Notes some business owners said the introduction of the new Naira notes would not bring anything new since the currency is the same value with the old ones which would soon go out of circulation.
In separate interviews Mr Afor Bright, Mr David Ibrahim and Nze Francis Onuora disclosed that they are yet to have a feel of the new Naira notes stressing that the government policy would no doubt check fraudulent activities like counterfiet.
They however stated that physical cash will begin to be scarce noting that people at the grassroot would feel the effect more.
For a Legal Practitioner, Mr Peter Atano, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, had the backing of the constitution sequel to the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to redesign the Naira.
Mr Atano who stated that this is not the first time the Naira has been changed however advised the Government to convince Nigerians beyond doubt on the aim of the redesigning of the Naira.
It would be Recalled that the Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, on October 26, 2022, announced that new Naira notes would be introduced to replace the current 200, 500, and 1,000 Naira notes.
Emefiele said the circulation of the redesigned notes would take effect from December 15, 2022,
