Chairman of Aniocha South local government ,Pastor Jude Chukwunwike and Chairman Aniocha North local government, Hon. Chinye Bazim have called on residents of both local government areas to supply credible intelligence that will aid security agencies to curb the activities of bandits, kidnappers and criminal elements disturbing the peace of their domain.
The Duo made the call during a strategic meeting at Ogwashi-uku headquarters of Aniocha South local government area.
Pastor Chukwunwike noted that the joint security meeting involving both local government councils was at the instance of the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, stating that the incessant news of attacks by gun men and casualties became imperative to bolster security in the two councils.
Hon. Bazim, in agreement with Pastor chukwunwike and the traditional rulers, lamented the trauma faced by victims and their families, including the embarrassment to leaders whose oath of office is rests on protection and safeguard of lives and properties of the citizens.
The Garrison Commander 63 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Lt. Col. L. A. Balogun and the Commissioner of Police, Delta State command, Olufemi Abaniwonda represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, C. E. Dyke, agreed with the perspective shared by the council chairmen and critical stakeholders, stressing that the security agencies can only get it right, if residents are willing to gather and share credible intelligence that will drive the arrest of the culprits.
They added that every effort will be made to ensure that peace is restored in the two councils.
The meeting was attended by security agencies, traditional rulers , presidents General of town unions, and vigilantes from the two local governments.
Others at the meeting are hoteliers, market associations, heads of schools and Fulani/Hausa Miyetti Allah, religious bodies as well as stakeholders.
