The Executive Assistant to the Delta state governor on media,comrade Norbert Chiazor has tasked journalists to remain in the forefront of reporting the gains of the state government’s policy thrust, called the M.O.R.E Agenda.
Speaking at a courtesy call by the newly elected executive committee of the Nigeria union of journalists,NUJ, Asaba correspondents chapel,Comrade Chiazor said governor Sheriff Oborevwori has a development model that would transform Delta.
Chiazor,former state chairman,Nigeria union of journalists,said media practitioners as agents of progress,bear a responsibility to enlighten the people on the M.O.R.E concept- Meaningful Development ,Opportunities for all,Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security
He noted that Oborevwori’s vision had started yielding results with the on going construction of Julius Berger mega bridges in Warri and EFfurun,commissioning of projects across the state, payment of N40 billion to local government pensioners,N5 billion promotion arrears to state civil servants as well as recruitment of about councils ‘ workers among other accomplishments.
Chiazor thanked journalists for what he described as their “ professional support to the government since inauguration on May 29, 2023 and assured that “governor Oborevwori would set a trail blazing direction in office”
Earlier, the chairman of NUJ,Asaba correspondents’ chapel,Mr. Ifeanyi Olannye urged the Executive Assistant to convey their congratulations to the governor on his electoral and court victories,pledging continued partnership with the administration.
Olannye commended Chiazor for his dedication to journalism and noted that his era as state NUJ chairman witnessed the training of over 50 journalists in London and urged him to use his new office to improve the fortunes of media practitioners.
