The Executive Assistant EA Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former chairman of the Nigeria union of journalists NUJ ,Delta state council,Comrade Norbert Chiazor,said the victory of Mrs Stella Macaulay as South South vice president of the National Association of women journalists , NAWOJ represented progress for the media industry in the Niger Delta region.
In a goodwill message on the election of Mrs Macaulay at the NAWOJ Trinnial Delegates conference held at Abuja, Comrade Chiazor, said the triumph marked a historic moment for Delta state,coming first time since it’s creation over 30 years ago.
Chiazor popularly called the wordsmith, described Mrs Macaulay as as an intelligent journalist with admirable clout and expressed confidence that the NAWOJ zonal vice president would excel.
The former NUJ boss also felicitated with Miss Eunice Emeyasia,a journalist with DBS Asaba on her re- election as zonal Secretary of NAWOJ. Chiazor described Emeyasia as a bright humble media practictioner commited to ethical journalism.
He tasked the chairperson and Secretary to mobilize journalists in Delta,Edo , Bayelsa,Rivers,Cross River and Akwa states representing NAWOJ zone F, to promote peace and mutual development, including the propagation of the M.O.R.E agenda policy thrusts, envisioned by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for all Deltans.
According to Chiazor” Mrs Stella Macaulay brings an excellent professional track record.She served with exemplary diligence while on the saddle years ago as secretary of Delta NUJ.She would bequeath action and feat to NAWOJ leadership.Youthful Emeyasia stands as one of the most resourceful female journalists in Delta.She is diligent.I congratulate both of them with great expectations towards service and integrity”
Mrs Macaulay, a director in the department of New Media,Delta state ministry of information scored 84 votes to defeat her closet contender, Mrs Bassey Umor from Akwa Ibom who got 42 votes at the NAWOJ elections. Emeyasia was returned unopposed.
