The Agbarha Warri Regency Council ( AWRC ) has pledged its commitment to the peace , unity and development in Agbarha Warri kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the Regency Council High Chief Willie Atabefia Digbori (JP) made available to newsmen on Tuesday 28th November, 2023 .
The statement commended and appreciated Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori for his interest in the peace, unity and development in the ancient Urhobo Kingdom of Agbarha Warri particularly with the involvement of Delta State Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Committee in the selection and entronement of a new monarch for the kingdom .
The Agbarha Warri Regency Council in the statement pledged its commitment to work with the Agbarha Warri king makers and the Delta State Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Committee in the selection and entronement of a new Agbarha Warri monarch.
The statement however appealed to Governor Oborevwori to call to order organisers of a press briefing on the selection and enthronement of a new monarch in Agbarha Warri kingdom that was widely aired and published in the media on Monday 27th November, 2023 .
The statement noted that the said press briefing was a threat to the lives of members of Agbarha Warri king makers and those of Agbarha Warri Regency Council.
The statement also noted that the press briefing was capable of truncating the peace agenda of Governor Oborevwori in Agbarha Warri kingdom and indeed Delta State.
The statement further stressed that in the event of breach of peace in Agbarha Warri kingdom on account of the selection and entronement of a new monarch , the organizers of the press briefing should be held responsible.
