The Association of Table Water Producers ATWAP has raised the price of sachet water popularly known as pure water’ to N300 per bag.
National President, Clementina Ativie made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday said the decision was unanimously reached during the ATWAP National Convention in Abuja..
Ativie explained that the increment was due to current prices of production material as well as harsh economic situation in the country.
The President also added that the cost of production had gone far beyond what they can bear and she said the new rate would help them to keep up with bills and remain in business.
The statement appealed to citizens to be understanding and bear with the association
ATWAP had increased the price of a bag of pure water to N200 on November 11,2021.
ACTUAL NEWS Correspondent who went round warri, Uvwie and Udu local Government Areas of Delta State report that a bag of Sachet water is sold for 300 Naira per bag, while a sachet water now cost 2O naira .
One Mr Ejiro Udi a trader said the increment is not a welcome idea because the common man on the street is finding it difficult to adjust with the new price .
“This increment is affecting us badly we use to buy a sachet of water at the rate of ten naira now it is twenty naira” He said.
A fish trader Miss Oghale Oke said for days she has been drinking water from the borehole since she can’t continue to buy sachet water at the rate of twenty naira.
At River Road in Ekpan An elderly Man Pa Vincent advised the Delta State Government to provide public water for residents in the state , stressing that it will be cheaper than the private companies that produces sachet water .
